WWE SummerSlam Preview: The City of Angels Gets Invaded By Demons

The WWE is on a collision course with TNA as both promotions are having one of their biggest events in the City of Angels. With Bound For Glory set for LA in October, the WWE returns to the Staples Center.

But there is no Nuggets vs. Lakers rivalry happening in this showdown.

Instead, we get the biggest party of the summer topped off with the return of the biggest faction in WWE History, the return of one of the most dangerous matches in WWE History and the return of one of the biggest rivalries in WWE History.

With that, here is the rundown of tonight's ender to the summer: SummerSlam!

Jack Swagger vs. MVP

Ever since coming over to RAW from ECW, Jack Swagger has continued to march to the beat of his own drum. From taking a countout loss to Randy Orton in his debut to occasionally joining forces with Chris Masters, Swagger has looked to be anything but a simple pushover.

That is, until he crossed paths with someone and made things personal.

After spending a night in the VIP Lounge, Swagger met a new foe in the form of MVP. But it was Swagger bringing out MVP's checkered past that forced Mr. 305 to step his game up a notch.

Now MVP has been known to be a dangerous man when he needs to be, but Swagger ran ECW for a good period of time as ECW Champion. With two slightly contrasting styles in this opening contest, will MVP continue BALLIN' after Summerslam?

Or will it be Jack that leaves LA with his Swagger turned on full?

Battle of The Giants: The Great Khali vs. Kane

The Big Red Machine was brought back to SmackDown for the sole purpose of continuing his Path of Punishment. He made an impact when he took a steel chair to The Punjabi Playboy to allow Dolph Ziggler to pick up a victory.

Now the two Giants will renew their WrestleMania rivalry once again.

After several weeks of torture, The Great Khali finally gets his chance at revenge. After watching his brother, Ranjin Singh, get tortured by the Big Red Monster, Khali gets a chance to put an end to the Hellfire and Brimstone once and for all.

When these two giants collide tonight in The City of Angels, will it be The Punjabi Playboy or the Big Red Demon that leaves the Staples Center with the victory?

WWE Unified Tag Team Championships: Walls of Show-icho vs. Cryme Tyme

Since winning the Unified Tag Team Championships with Edge, Chris Jericho has been on an Ego Trip from Hell. From bashing his home nation of Canada to berating and insulting his former partner, Edge, Jericho is determined to be one half of the most dominant tag teams in WWE History. And alongside the Big Show, who can possibly stop them?

Yo Yo Yo! Insert a new threat...it's Cryme Tyme!

After defeating The Hart Dynasty in a #1 Contenders Match, CTC has a chance to do something they haven't been able to do since their arrival to WWE: Win some gold.

If they manage to outlast the strength and experience of Show-icho, Cryme Tyme would become the third team to win the Unified Tag Team Championships. But with the brutality that is on display nightly from Chris Jericho and Big Show, can CTC climb the mountain and win the WWE Unified Tag Team Championships?

Or will they just be another stepping stone on Show-icho's path to immortality?

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio

His name is Dolph Ziggler. As we all know, he is a former member of the Spirit Squad and a former World Tag Team Champion. But since his return, he has been a force to be reckoned with. With victories over MVP, The Great Khali and several main eventers, Ziggler hopes to add a new title to his resume: Intercontinental Champion.

Since defeating Chris Jericho to lay claim to the Intercontinental Gold, Rey Mysterio has fought off the likes of Mike Knox, Edge, even Jericho himself. But his biggest thorn has been Ziggler.

Now after winning a Fatal Four Way to challenge Mysterio, Ziggler is determined now more than ever to win the gold from the man from 619. With the homefield advantage in his favor, can Mysterio outlast Ziggler one more time?

Or is this the start of Ziggler's Road to Perfection?

ECW Championship: Christian vs. William Regal

Captain Charisma managed to defeat ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer to regain the championship he never lost. After outlasting Dreamer in an ECW Extreme Rules Match, Christian remained on top of the world. Now he returns to his main event status with a new title and a new opponent.

William Regal was named #1 Contender by ECW GM Tiffany, and since then, he has shown that extreme side he once had. But Regal made sure that he had all his ducks in a row heading into the Biggest Party of the Summer.

So he went out and aligned himself with the two biggest monsters in ECW, Russian Mauler Vladimir Kozlov and Big Ezekial Jackson.

With the services of Kozlov and Jackson at his disposal, are we looking at Regal's first World Championship reign in his career? Or will Captain Charisma be celebrating with his Peepulation in The City of Angels?

Family Traditions: The Legacy vs. D-Generation X

Ever since aligning themselves with WWE Champion Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase have learned from the Master Manipulator in the best way possible.

Now The Legacy looks to cement their own Legacy...at the expense of The Biggest Entity from the WWE Attitude Era.

After being beatdown by Legacy for several weeks, including losing his chance at the WWE Championship at Night of Champions and The Bash, Triple H traveled to Texas to reunite with his friend and partner, Shawn Michaels.

After finding HBK in the kitchen of some corporate office, he managed to convince his friend to come back and reform DX.

But Legacy ambushed DX when they made their return to prove that they are indeed ready for the return of DX and intend on walking out of Los Angeles victorious alongside their leader, Randy Orton.

Can Legacy continue their dominance over The Game, who has help this time? Or will the return of The Heartbreak Kid spell more than just trouble for Legacy...in other words, two words for Legacy?

TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk

CM Punk's new attitude has forced his loyal fans to turn on him quickly. He has made it clear that the entire WWE Universe are nothing more than sheep injected with drugs, tobacco and alcohol. And he intends to cleanse the Universe by eliminating the man he feels is responsible for these upbringings.

In the process, he intends to once again be World Heavyweight Champion.

Jeff Hardy outlasted Punk at Night of Champions to avenge Punk's shenanigans from The Bash. But after getting pummeled by Punk over the last few weeks, Hardy returns tougher than ever...and with some backup as well.

After getting a change of heart, Matt Hardy not only secured his brother's victory over Punk a few weeks ago, but he also saved his brother from another brutal attack two weeks ago. Now Matt has shown signs that he and his little brother are back on the same page heading into Summerslam...

But is this just another way for Matt to screw his brother over one more time? Or will The Hardyz ride higher than ever before at the end of the night with Jeff surviving Tables, Ladders & Chairs and retaining the World Heavyweight Championship?

Rivalry Renewed: Randy Orton vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship

Ever since Backlash, the WWE Universe has heard voices in their head. It's mainly because The Age of Orton has returned with a vengeance. After decimating Triple H, outlasting The Game and The Commander and sending Batista to the Injured List, Orton looks to be unstoppable and untouchable...

That is until he locked eyes with 250 pounds of problem.

After winning the Beat The Clock Challenge a few weeks ago, John Cena returns to main event status with a chance to reclaim some familiar gold. Two years ago, Orton and Cena battled over the WWE Championship at Summerslam.

A few years before, Cena was battling for the United States Championship, while Orton was becoming the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history.

Now Orton and Cena exchange roles as The Legend Killer enters as champion and Cena as challenger. Will The Age of Orton continue pass The City of Angels?

Or is John Cena's Time now?

Who will enter tomorrow night's RAW saying, "THE CHAMP...IS...HERE!"?

It's WWE SummerSlam, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles! Tonight, live and only on Pay Per View!
