Tonight's RAW from Tampa starts with the arrival of Yankees All Star Johnny Damon! Despite the boos from the Rays fans, Damon gives them a DX Chop for their troubles. As Damon starts talking about tonight, the Elin-Tiger saga makes way to RAW with Elin wielding a golf club towards a guy in a Tiger costume. Following the anarchy, the Divas arrive in full holiday dress.
Santa's Little Helpers Divas Tag Match
Divas Champion Melina, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim vs. Maryse, Alicia Fox & Jillian Hall
Kim and Hall start the physicality with Jillian getting control after an Electric Chair Drop. Maryse arrives in the match with a backbreaker on Kim, but Kelly Kelly is able to get the tag in an take the fight to the former Divas Champion. All of a sudden, all hell breaks loose as Melina delivers a dropkick to Maryse to help Kelly Kelly pick up the win for her team.
Winners: Kelly Kelly, Divas Champion Melina & Gail Kim
DX vs. Hornswoggle in the Lil' People's Court
Earlier today, DX makes their appearance...under the ring for their appearance in the Court to face Hornswoggle in his lawsuit. After finding the light switch, they make their way to the Little Courtroom. After noticing a jury of Hornswoggle's peers, the duo gets pushed down to their seats by a HBK lookalike. After the video evidence, things are not looking good for DX.
Randy Orton & Legacy vs. Controlled Frenzy & Mark Henry
Orton decides not to fight Mark Henry and tags in Cody Rhodes instead. After Rhodes gets decimated, Kingston comes in to get dropped by Rhodes. Orton comes in to pick at the bones of an injured Kingston.
Back on RAW, Kingston gets enough breathing room to tag in Evan Bourne. Bourne takes down all three members of the opposition before delivering Airbourne. DiBiase stops the count, and Orton drops him with a clothesline on the outside. Orton returns to the ring after a two count to deliver a guillotine. After Orton couldn't get the job done, DiBiase comes in to deliver even more punishment. Despite being outnumbered, Bourne gets the upper hand long enough to tag in Kofi Kingston. Kingston delivers some punishment on Orton before delivering the Boom Drop. DiBiase comes in and gets leveled by Kingston with Trouble in Paradise to pick up the win over Legacy.
Winners: Controlled Frenzy & Mark Henry
Back in the GH's office, Eve is enjoying some egg nog when Carlito comes in to ruin the fun. But Chris Masters comes in to spoil his fun. With that, Damon makes the match between Masters and Carlito.
DX vs. Hornswoggle in Little People's Court Part Two
Back in the courtroom, DX tries to plead their case, but HW delivers more damning evidence to the future of DX. In other words, the video of Triple H delivering a Pedigree to him at the Garden. Following the verdict, all hell breaks loose as it's DX versus the Little People's Court. DX manages to escape slightly unscaved.
Back on RAW, John Cena heads towards the ring for his match with Jack Swagger.
John Cena vs. Jack Swagger
Swagger has control in the early going, but his mouth gets him into more trouble than its worth as he is sent to the outside of the ring with a modified FU.
Back on the program, Swagger regains control after the match. But once again, Swagger's ego refuses to let him defeat Cena when he has the chance as he starts flexing pushups in the center of the ring. And Cena begins to gain some momentum before getting dropped with a sidewalk slam. Swagger's amateur background comes well into play with a reverse Tigerlock. But Cena muscles his way out of it and delivers a belly to belly. Swagger delivers the Sooner Splash, but is only able to get a two count. He then sets up for the Swagger Bomb, but Cena counters into a backdrop.
Cena again builds momentum with a pair of shoulder tackles, followed by the Ray Bomb (in honor of Tampa) and the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Swagger continues to fight out of it, but Cena continues to evade defeat. Swagger brings Cena up top, only to get knocked out of the way. Swagger misses the Swagger Splash, and he gets locked in the STF. Cena gets the victory after Swagger taps out from the STF.
Winner: John Cena
Back in Damon's office, the role of Santa is now being played by Dusty Rhodes. MVP comes in to ask for an opportunity at a title shot. So Damon gives him a chance to prove himself as Porter will face WWE Champion Sheamus tonight.
Carlito vs. Chris Masters
Masters goes for the Masterlock early, but Carlito manages to con his way into control of the match. Carlito goes for a sleeper hold, but the brute strength of Masters ends that quick. Carlito ducks the Lock twice, but goes for the springboard only to get caught in mid-air by the Masterlock. As Carlito drops, Masters wins the bout...and is able to celebrate the win with a little Mistletoe kiss from Eve Torres.
Winner: Chris Masters
Following some videos from last weekend's Tribute to the Troops, we get our game faces on for Sheamus vs. MVP.
Back in Damon's office, The Miz is making demands to Santa, who is now being played by IRS. But the fun is interrupted by Elin and Mrs. Claus aka Mae Young.
WWE Champion Sheamus vs. MVP
Sheamus starts the physicality with a huge clothesline before moving it to the corner. MVP tries to fight back, but Sheamus just drops him easily again. He then nails the Celtic Curse before setting up for a shouler block. MVP starts fighting back with a knee drop. As he goes for the BALLIN' Elbow Drop, MVP gets dropped with the Bicycle Kick. Sheamus then picks him up and delivers the Celtic Cross to pick up the win. But after the bell, John Cena makes his way to the ring to confront the WWE Champion. He makes it clear that he wants his rematch right now. The Celtic Warrior looks on stunned before leaving the ring and refusing to deliver on the rematch.
Back on RAW, Vince McMahon has arrived to find out what Johnny Damon is going to do about Sheamus and Cena. Damon responds by making the match for next week: Sheamus vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship!
United States Champion The Miz vs. Santino Claus
The Miz goes on the assault of Santino Claus with punches to the head followed by a set of kicks. Miz drops him with a neckbreaker but misses the Reality Bites. Santino misses the elbow rop off the top rope, and Miz delivers the Skull Crushing Finale to pick up the win over Santino Claus. After the bell, Miz destroys the bag of goodies brought from Santino Claus.
Back on RAW, Big Show has called out Santa Claus to give him his Christmas Wish. With that, Santa makes his way down to the ring to confront the World's Largest Hemmorhoid. Show's wish: He wants Chris Jericho back on RAW. After contemplating for a moment, Santa gives Show what he wants. Next week, Jericho will be back on RAW. Hornswoggle comes out and exposes the Santa Claus for what he truly is: Chris Jericho in disguise...and a DX mini-army comes out escort him out of the arena once again. Jericho and Show dispose of the Mini-Army, but as they turn their attention to Hornswoggle, DX comes out to make the save and clear the ring. But then they turn their attention to Hornswoggle.
DX goes back and forth about letting him in, they decide that if he drops the lawsuit, he becomes the official mascot of DX. As the snow falls in Tampa, DX...and their littlest member celebrate as RAW goes off the air.

Right off the bat, we find out that The Undertaker, Randy Orton, John Cena & CM Punk will battle to determine the 2009 Superstar of the Year. With that, Dennis Miller makes his arrival to the
Corpus Christi crowd.
After a few of his usual wisecracks, Miller gets right to business...that is, he compares his radio show to the WWE of today. Didn't know that Nancy Pelosi eerily resembled Vickie Guerrero. With that, R-Truth and Jillian Hall are out to present the first Slammy Awards of the Night.
2009 Best Tag Team of the Year
(Nominees: DX, Legacy, Hart Dynasty, Jeri-Show)
Winners: Jeri-Show
After R-Truth silences Jillian, the winner is Jeri-Show. But they seem a bit empty...mainly because their gold is now in the hands of D-Generation X, who won Tag Team Gold for the first time in their careers. Jericho comes out and continues to make it all about him and not about anyone else. Show on the other hand shows his complete stupidity by butchering the English language in every way. Jericho then takes the moment to invoke the rematch clause and challenges DX for the titles tonight.
Following scenes from last night's Tables Match between Cena and Sheamus, ECW tries to boast about Sheamus's rise to the top in such quick fashion. Despite all that, expect John Cena to invoke his rematch clause and face the Celtic Champion real soon.
Back on RAW, the Ruthless Roundtable have entered the ring. Following the footage from last Tuesday's ECW, William Regal makes it clear that they're all on the same page. To prove it, he has challenged ECW Champion Christian to a match and to find two partners who would fight them tonight. Captain Charisma, despite being injured, unveils his partners: Kane and The Great Khali!
The Ruthless Roundtable vs. ECW Champion Christian, Kane & The Great Khali
Kozlov tries to Samba his way past Khali, but the Punjabi Playboy doesn't take long to drop the Mauler. Kozlov tags in Jackson, which prompts Christian to come in. After taking down Regal, Christian tags in the Big Red Monster. But Kozlov tries to show how it's done. But Kozlov gets dropped by Kane, followed by the Khali Chop to the Moscow Mauler to pick up the win over the Roundtable, who still looks like they're at each other's throats.
Winners: Christian, Kane & The Great Khali
Following the match, Miller returns to introduce Tiffany & Teddy Long, who are presenting the 2009 Slammy Award for Breakout Superstar of the Year.
2009 Breakthrough Superstar of the Year
(Nominees: Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Yoshi Tatsu, Abraham Washington?)
Winner: Sheamus
Sheamus comes out and indulges in having more gold to carry home with him. After going through the list of Hall of Famers who never got the brass ring, Sheamus makes it clear that he is better than everyone else. Despite his demand for respect, the crowd makes it clear that he still sucks, and he is still not taken seriously...especially by this writer. And when WWE returns to Colorado, I'll be sure to let him know that. Bank on that.
Back on the program, Matt Striker tries to sell more of SmackDown and less of RAW's Cena. With that, we get a closer look at the four nominees for the 2009 Superstar of the Year. After that, Cody Rhodes of Legacy makes his way down to the ring for his match.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kofi Kingston
Rhodes makes it clear that he is not taking this match seriously, but Kingston shows that he is as tough as he looks. He then drops him with the Boom Drop before Ted DiBiase comes out to uneven the odds. But little do they know, Evan Bourne evens things when he goes straight after Ted. After receiving an award for Best Announcer to Change the Outcome of a Match, Miller restarts the match as a tag team match as Legacy will battle Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston...now known as Controlled Frenzy.
Legacy vs. Controlled Frenzy
Back on the program, DiBiase and Rhodes show why they're so dangerous as they focus on the injured (and punted) arm of Kofi. Frequent tags keep Legacy in control...and constant chime-ins have me wanting to duct tape Striker's mouth.
But Kofi gets enough distance to get the tag to Bourne. Bourne comes in and cleans house. But he gets caught with Crossroads to get the victory over Controlled Frenzy. The good news for Legacy: They won the match. The bad news: Rhodes didn't defeat Kingston.
Winners: Legacy
Back on the program, Miller realizes that saying SUCK IT gets more applause! With that, Vickie Guerrero and Santino Marella come out to present the next award.
2009 Shocker of the Year
(Nominees: Randy Orton (DDT's & Kisses Stephanie McMahon), Batista (Decimates Rey at Bragging Rights), CM Punk (Retires Jeff Hardy), Sheamus (Gives Mark Cuban Wood))
Winner: CM Punk
Punk comes out to celebrate his victory, and obviously makes it known that he is the Greatest of All Time...in other words, he's really a GOAT! Before his match, Punk thanks himself and bashes the crowd before focusing on the reason why he won the award tonight. As Striker nods on and encourages his SmackDown Superstar, John Cena makes his way down to the ring, looking a little more pumped than usual.
2009 Superstar of the Year Tournament Match
2009 Slammy Award Winner CM Punk vs. John Cena
Cena starts the physicality by dropping Punk with a shoulder block. But it doesn't take long for the cocky Punk to take full control of the match. Following the knee lift and bulldog, Punk lockBacks in an armbar. But as he goes for the GTS, Cena counters it into the STF. Punk grabs the ropes, but Cena drags him back and locks it in again to force the tapout victory. Cena advances to the Finals to face either Randy Orton or Undertaker tonight.
Following the match, Cena addresses the Cenation. He first congratulates Sheamus on becoming WWE Champion, then he apologizes to anyone he let down last night. He admits that he failed last night...but despite the pain, disappointment and sadness that he felt last night, he makes it clear that he will never give up. He then addresses those who lost the faith and to those who still have it. He then promises that what happened at TLC will not happen again.
His Road to WrestleMania starts right now by making a guarantee: "I WILL NOT LOSE ANOTHER MATCH UNTIL I AM ONCE AGAIN WWE CHAMPION!"
Winner and Advancing to the Finals: John Cena
After Cena's emphatic speech, we find out that the next award to be given out will be the Match of the Year.
Back on the program, Miller brings out one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions: The Game, Triple H!
2009 Match of the Year
(Nominees: HBK vs. Undertaker (WrestleMania 25), John Cena vs. Randy Orton (Breaking Point), Jeff Hardy vs. Edge (Extreme Rules), Team RAW vs. Team SmackDown (Bragging Rights))
Winner: Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker (25th Anniversary of WrestleMania)
Shawn comes out and congratulate The Undertaker on an epic battle at WrestleMania. After thanking the crowd, he prepares to leave, but he still has something to say. He then turns his attention to the Undertaker: "I can beat you Undertaker. I know it, and you know it." Tonight, he throws out the challenge to the Undertaker: Taker vs. Michaels at WrestleMania...one more time.
2009 Superstar of the Year Tournament Match
World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
Undertaker takes Orton down with a shoulder tackle. As Taker goes for Ol' School, Orton launches him off the top rope. The two then exchange blows before Taker gets control again. He delivers Snake Eyes followed by the Big Boot and the Leg Drop. Orton blocks the chokeslam and sends him out...only to get dragged out of the ring. Legacy comes down to provide enough distraction for Orton to deliver an RKO on the outside and allow Orton to win via countout.
After the bell, Legacy tries to add insult to injury, but Taker sends them packing before delivering a massive chokeslam to Orton. With all the anarchy, the stage is set: Randy Orton vs. John Cena one more time...this time, for the 2009 Superstar of the Year Award. As we return live, Taker gives everyone a proper sendoff before heading to the back.
Winner and Advancing: Randy Orton
Back on the program, Vince McMahon comes out and prepares to give out the award for Guest Host of the Year.
2009 RAW Guest Host of the Year
(Nominees: Bob Barker, Seth Green, Shaquille O'Neal, The Osbournes)
Winner: Bob Barker
Barker accepts the award from his home. He lets Vince know that he had a lot of fun and thanks everyone for the fun. After the acceptance, Vince asks Dennis who he would pick as a Guest Host. When Bret "The Hitman" Hart's name comes into play, Vince tries to downplay the thought, but the fans let it be known that "They...WANT...BRET!!"
Back on RAW, Dennis Miller is having his ass kissed by Chris Jericho. This then prompts Miller into going on one of his trademark rants by calling Jericho, "A black hole that sucks the vibe out of the program." With that, the new Unified Tag Team Champions hit the ring.
WWE Unified Tag Team Championships Match
WWE Unified Tag Team Champions D-Generation X vs. Jeri-Show
The official rings the bell, DX shoves the official to the ground while poking fun at them. The ref then disqualifies DX, and awards the match to Jeri-Show. However, DX is still the Champions. After the bell, DX is the first to inform Jericho that he is not supposed to be in this ring. After asking for help, the entire WWE locker room empties with Cryme Tyme, R-Truth, Finlay, Shelton Benjamin, Christian, Hurricane and Primo come down to help him out of the ring.
As Jericho tries to stave off his departure, he turns around to receive Sweet Chin Music from HBK. With that, the DX Army sends Jericho off. As DX celebrates, Jericho continues to try to stay on RAW. But the Army tosses him out of the arena and locks the door behind him.
Now that's a nice finish.
Winners (And Loohoosehers): Jeri-Show
Back on The Slammys, Carlito, Eve & Chris Masters come out to deliver the Award for best Extreme/OH MY GOD! Moment of the year.
2009 Extreme Moment of the Year
(Nominees: Kofi Kingston (Unleashes on Orton), Big Show (Watts up Cena), Jeff Hardy (Flies Sky High on Punk), Triple H (Makes House Call to Orton))
Winner: Jeff Hardy (Accepting The Award is Matt Hardy)
Matt comes out and lets everyone know that Jeff is happy to receive the award. But Carlito then sucker punches Hardy in an attempt to steal the award. But Masters plays the hero by applying the Masterlock on Carlito before sending him back towards Hardy, who lays him out with a sucker punch of his own. After giving his brother the proper sendoff, we get a special look at The Marine 2, starring Legacy's Ted DiBiase.
United States Champion The Miz, Zack Ryder & Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison, Yoshi Tatsu & Mark Henry
Miz tries to get control off the distraction, but Henry shows that brute strength. Following a farewell, he tags in John Morrison. McIntyre comes in and gets pummeled by Morrison. Ryder comes in and calls out Tatsu. After an impressive display by the two, Tatsu drops Ryder with a kick to the skull to pick up the upset victory over Ryder.
Winners: John Morrison, Yoshi Tatsu and Mark Henry
7-on-7 Divas Match
Mickie James, Diva Champion Melina, Maria, Bella Twins, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim vs. Women's Champion Michelle McCool, Layla, Rosa Mendes, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Maryse & Alicia Fox
After clearing the ring, Rosa takes the fight to Mickie James. Even in Evening Gowns, the two slug it out with Mickie getting early control. Mickie delivers the Mickie-T to pick up the win for her team. With that, Goldust and MVP, because it's time to find out who wins the 2009 Diva of the Year.
Winners: Team Mickie
2009 Diva of the Year
Winner: Maria
As Maria gives her acceptance speech, Batista comes out and interrupts her speech to talk about how he has been screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship. Does this sound familiar? That one is for you Kanye! How do you like 'Dem Apples?
Abraham Washington, Tony Atlas and Big Dick Johnson come out to present the OH MY GOD! Award.
2009 OH MY GOD! Award
Nominees: Chris Masters (Dancing Pecs), Shawn Michaels (Rebellion), Michael Cole (Drinking Too Much), Santino (Bad Morals)
Winner: Michael Cole
After the huge acceptance speech, and the Hook 'Em Horns to the Texas crowd, Dennis Miller thanks the crowd before handing the show over to Randy Orton and John Cena for the final Slammy and final match of the night. The twist? We find out that A) This match in No DQ, and 2) After the match, John Cena plans on challenging Sheamus for the WWE Championship!
As DX displays all the stuff you can buy (all available on www.WWEShop.com) when Hornswoggle comes in and gives them Gift Cards. When all hell breaks loose, The Game thinks that he has him, but it turns out that he's beating up Shawn instead. After the anarchy, we find out that New York Yankee and World Champion Johnny Damon will be Guest Host next week...with some Secret Santa prizes as well.
2009 Superstar of the Year Finals
Randy Orton vs. John Cena
The physicality begins with Cena taking Orton from pillar to post. Following a Fisherman's Suplex, Cena delivers a huge elbow. But Orton bounces back by taking the fight to the outside. Back in the ring, Orton continues the punishment with a series of stomps and knees. But Cena bounces back with the Throwback before hitting the Red Sox Drop.
Orton bounces back with an inverted backbreaker before laying the punches to him. Following a clothesline, Orton executes the Mental Dissection, but Cena manages to dodge the knee and deliver a pair of shoulder tackles followed by the Beantown Bomb and 5-Knuckle Shuffle. Cena takes Orton up for an Attitude Adjustment, but Orton counters into an RKO, which is countered into an Attitude Adjustment.
Following a near fall, Orton delivers a vicious DDT on the outside, Orton drags Cena's proned body back into the ring...only to get a near fall out of it! Orton turns and looks down at his prey before he takes aim at possibly punting Cena. But Cena ducks the punt and delivers another Attitude Adjustment to pick up the win and become the 2009 Superstar of the Year!
Winner & 2009 Superstar of the Year: John Cena
Following the match, the WWE Champion comes out to try to get the last word. But all Cena is doing is calling Sheamus to the ring to possibly slug it out for the gold right now! Are we looking at the biggest main event to hit the Royal Rumble in recent memory? Tune in next week when the Yankees take over RAW!
BCS Playoffs: #4 TCU vs. #5 Florida

tcu horned frogs, florida gators, sec, mountain west, ron johnson, bcs, bcs playoffs
For the final installment of the playoff brackets, we have the Mountain West Champions, the TCU Horned Frogs, and the SEC Runner Ups, and Defending National Champions, the Florida Gators. For this one, it's personal for me mainly because I am one of those die-hard Gators fans. But this taking nothing away from the Frogs. So let's get right to it.#4 TCU Horned Frogs (Mountain West Champions, 12-0)
The Frogs are enjoying the perfect season to this point. The last time they went undefeated was in 1938, the year they won the National Championship. Now they were hoping that they did enough to secure a spot in the national Championship. Unfortunately, the BCS felt that Big XII Powerhouse Texas earned the spot over the Frogs. But that isn't stopping them from proving themselves in the postseason.
The Horned Frogs are led by their gunslinger Andy Dalton and a plethora (yes, plethora) of huge rushers, TCU could be the best team that is on the outside looking in. The Frogs' success could lean towards the fact that Utah had such great success last season against Alabama. But the team they're facing in this game is also notorious for the ground and pound as well as the air assault that has made TCU one of the most dangerous teams in the country.
#5 Florida Gators (SEC East Champions, SEC Runner Up, 12-1)
The Florida Gators have dominated the second half of this decade with a pair of National Championships. But they're victories in those games didn't come easy as they played a pair of Heisman winners in Troy Smith and Ohio State and Sam Bradford and Oklahoma. Unfortunately, thanks to the Horns' victory over Nebraska, Florida won't get a chance to prove their worth completely. But we live in a world full of second chances.
So Tim Tebow, Jeffery Demps and Riley Cooper get a chance to right the ship as they lock horns with the Horned Frogs. Tebow is a danger both in the air and on the ground himself, but the defense of the Gators was ranked in the top five in the country all season long. In fact, both the offense and defense were ranked in the top five all season. Tebow amassed almost 2500 yards through the air and almost 900 yards on the ground. Funny part is that he's the quarterback of the Gators.
BCS Playoffs: #3 Cincinnati vs. #6 Boise State

cincinnati bearcats, boise state broncos, big east, wac conference, ron johnson, bcs, bcs playoffs
We continue with our look into the BCS Playoffs. But to give everyone peace of mind, these are just fantasy pieces. There's no telling if this really would have been the lineup...with the exception of the fact that we're building it like the NHL and NBA Playoffs, that is. Instead of a field of 64, we get a field of eight. Now that the top two and bottom two teams are in the books, we take a look at the bottom half of the bracket. Up first is a battle of the Big East locking up with the WAC Conference.
#3 Cincinnati Bearcats (Big East Champions, 12-0)
If there is a team that refuses to lose, it's the Cincinnati Bearcats. Led by head coach, Brian Kelly, the Cats managed to pull off a series of stunners at the last minute to not only secure an undefeated season, but also clinch the Big East Championship. Last weekend, they overcame a 21-point deficit to shock the Pitt Panthers in the Big East Championship Game. Now they get a chance to prove that they are deserving of a BCS Championship berth by taking a shot at another undefeated team.
When Tony Pike went down with a surgery, it didn't take long for Zach Collaros to man up and pick up the pieces for the Bearcats. This spells trouble right off the bat for anyone who doesn't take the Cats seriously. Despite not having a back over 1,000 yards rushing, the Cats do the most damage through the air as they had both of their quarterbacks over 1,000 yards through the air. Mardy Gilyard was the team's leading receiver as he finished the season with 1,150 yards. All these ingredients spell out a perfect ending for the Bearcats...especially if their coach decides to head to South Bend.
#6 Boise State Broncos (WAC Champions, 13-0)
The Broncos are once again on top of the WAC Conference. They once again are undefeated...and once again, they felt the pinch of the BCS. The Broncos draw the Bearcats in the quarterfinals of the BCS Playoffs. This is possibly the most intriguing of matchups of the four games on the slate, but it will be nothing short of exciting nonetheless. With two high octane offenses hitting the field, there is sure to be some fireworks coming out of this one.
Kellen Moore accumulated almost 3400 yards through air, and he had no problem spreading the ball around as he had a pair of receivers, Titus Young (969) and Austin Pettis (850) who were his favorite targets. Jeremy Avery handled the ground and pound portion of the Boise State Show as Chris Petersen's group helped Avery gather over 1,100 yards this season. Defensive wise, the Broncos have a pair of guys with four interceptions each. To say that these two teams will leave it all on the field is an understatement.
Words can't do this one justice. So sit back and enjoy a high octane game between the Bearcats and Broncos. This is what is called the ultimate battle of when East Meets West.
BCS Playoffs: #2 Texas vs. #7 Oregon

texas longhorns, oregon ducks, big xii, pac-10, ron johnson, bcs playoffs
Yesterday, we started a little game of "What If?" and the responses have been pouring in. With the help of our family of networks, we are looking at who would become the undisputed BCS National Champions if the BCS invoked an eight-team playoff system this season. We started with top-ranked Alabama, the SEC Champions facing eighth-ranked Ohio State, the Big Ten Champions.
Today, we look at the second matchup as second-ranked and Big XII Champion Texas Longhorns, battle seventh-ranked and Pac-10 Champions, the Oregon Ducks.
#2 Texas Longhorns (Big XII Champions, 13-0)
The Texas Longhorns are either the toughest team in college football...or the luckiest. As proven in the last two weeks, a pair of teams that they were supposed to demolish give them the fight of their collegiate lives. Now the Horns have shown that they are as tenacious as Alabama...but does that make them the outright National Champions? They will have their chance to prove it as they will battle their way into the BCS National Championship via this year's playoffs.
Led by the dynamic duo of Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley, the Longhorns have managed to stay one step ahead of all the competition in the Big XII Conference. In the end, it took a long field goal to secure the postseason for the Longhorns. But if they hadn't won the Big XII, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. In any event, the Longhorns are here, so the what-ifs are pointless now.
#7 Oregon Ducks (Pac-10 Champions, 10-2)
For a team that has been on the outside looking in for quite sometime, the Ducks started off on a bad foot. After losing a heartbreaker to Boise State (on top of their Dark Horse Heisman Candidate), Oregon went on a severe tear that saw the likes of Cal, Washington, UCLA and even USC become victims of a team determined to unleash hell on the Pac-10 Conference. After taking out a dangerous Oregon State team in the annual Civil War, Oregon finally laid claim to the Pac-10 Conference and a trip to the Granddaddy of them All, the Rose Bowl Game.
Despite losing LeGarrette Blount in the season opener, the Ducks found ways to get the job done with a sick and twisted offense and a stingier defense. Jeremiah Masoli stepped up in a huge way to lead the passing game for the Ducks, while LaMichael James stepped up in the absence of Blount to acquire nearly 1500 yards this season. With a pair of hard knock runners and a mobile quarterback at the helm, there's no telling what could happen when they meet the Longhorns.
Be sure to vote this week for who moves on to the next round.

Tonight’s show opens with the arrival of tonight’s Guest Host, Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban. After pumping up his crowd, Cuban drops the bombshell that the two men that will battle for the WWE Championship will have a face-to-face encounter tonight, just six days before TLC. With that, the WWE Champion makes his way down to greet his #1 Richest Fan.
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Carlito
Carlito begins to get physical right off the bat as he takes the fight to the WWE Champion. As Carlito comes off the ropes, though, Cena catches him and goes for the Attitude Adjustment. But Carlito delivers a dropkick to stop the momentum briefly. But Cena bounces back in huge fashion to deliver some punishment, but as he goes for the 5-Knuckle Shuffle, Sheamus comes out to break up the fun. But Mark Cuban stops him in this tracks…along with members of security as well.
As Sheamus gets led away, Carlito guns for the Backstabber, only to get dropped with the Attitude Adjustment as Cena picks up the quick win on the road to TLC. Following the match, Cena goes out to greet the members of the Mavericks in attendance.
Winner: John Cena
Three Hour Special Event: Dennis Miller will host next week’s 2009 WWE Slammy Awards!!!
Intermission: Randy Orton & Legacy
Orton comes out and applauds Cuban for exhorting some authority over RAW tonight. Orton then comes out and demands that Cuban lifts the ban on him and makes him the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. After getting told no, Cuban has to hear it from Ted DiBiase that he will pick up where Orton left off at the 2003 Survivor Series when Orton RKO’d him. Cuban then grabs the stick and informs Orton that there is no way he will fight the winner of the Tables Match at TLC.
He then informs Orton that he got lucky against Kingston last week because Legacy jumped in. He then informs Orton that he will face Kingston in a rematch tonight…and Cuban will be the referee! Then Cody Rhodes jumps on and begins to insult every member of the Dallas Mavericks. He then decides to challenge Cuban instead. If Cody wins, Randy gets his ban lifted. But instead, Cuban sticks them in a Superstars rematch with Evan Bourne and Primo.
Legacy vs. Evan Bourne & Primo Colon
Back on the program, Legacy has control with quick and blind tags followed by huge double teams. Primo starts to show life, but Legacy continues to assault the younger brother of Carlito. Both Rhodes and Colon butt heads, and both are able to make tags. Bourne comes in and drops both members of Legacy before heading up top and nails the Gateway Knee Drop.
Bourne misses the kick, and DiBiase is able to nail Dream Street to pick up the win for Legacy. But after the bell, both men are informed that they are officially ejected from the American Airlines Center to prevent any further interference. With that, security escorts both men from the arena, as the two continuing jawing with Mark Cuban.
Winners (and Losers): Legacy
Maryse vs. Gail Kim
After Maryse shoves her, Kim spears her and delivers some punches. Kim remains on the offensive with a huge clothesline and keeps the former Divas Champion at bay. All of a sudden, Maryse delivers a huge slap to the face, which further pisses Kim off. But as Kim goes up top, Maryse kicks her off the top rope and uses the rope for leverage to pick up the win over Gail Kim.
After the bell, she grabs the mic and tells Kelly to call her the next Divas Champion. But Kelly pushes back and a riot ensues. Melina then sprints down to make things interesting. As Maryse flaunts away, one has to wonder what Cuban will do to rectify this situation involving the Divas Championship.
Winner: All the men watching RAW at that exact moment.
Back on RAW, DX is getting into the Christmas spirit when Hornswoggle comes to unveil the “World’s Littlest Member” DX T-Shirts that he intends to put on sale at WWEShop.com. Following another snippet of the Anarchy of Sheamus, the boys talk about the WWE Championship Showdown as Kofi Kingston heads down to the ring for his payback match.
Payback Match (Special Referee: Mark Cuban)
Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston
The two exchange blows and shots before Kingston gets control and sends Orton to the outside. After getting dropped on the outside, Orton gets control back on the inside with a huge clothesline. Orton then methodically picks Kingston apart. Orton then applies a choke hold on Kingston as the Sign Guy tries to get the crowd in Dallas involved.
Back on the match, Orton continues the punishment before Kingston starts fighting back. After Cuban moves him aside, Kingston shifts past and takes the punishment back to the Legend Killer. After nailing the Boom Drop, Kingston preps for the Trouble in Paradise, but Orton ducks and delivers a huge backbreaker. Orton then prepares to deliver the RKO to Kingston. But Kingston turns it into a backslide, and Cuban delivers the biggest three-count in WWE history.
Following the match, Cuban lets Orton know that he had been waiting six years to get some payback, and he got it. But the rubber match will happen at TLC as Orton and Kingston will have one more encounter.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
WWE United States Championship Match
WWE United States Champion The Miz vs. "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry
Miz tries to get control early, but Henry shows that brute power by sending Miz over to the other side of the ring. But the quickness of Miz manages to get control. But the more that Miz delivers punches, the angrier Henry gets. Henry gets control back momentarily before Miz dropkicks him out of the ring. As Miz goes in for the kill, Henry lunges towards him with a choke. Henry then slips into the ring, but Miz delivers a huge DDT to pick up the win and retain the championship.
Winner: The Miz
Hornswoggle & Eve Torres vs. Chavo and Jillian Hall
Eve gets the early tag from Hornswoggle, which prompts Jillian to get into the ring. Jillian gets control after an distraction by Chavo. But Eve starts firing back with a trifecta of dropkicks. As Jillian looks to fire back, Eve bounces back and delivers a Somersault Splash onto Jillian to pick up the win. But after the bell, Chavo decides to get some payback on Hornswoggle...that is, until Eve intervenes.
All of a sudden, Chris Masters returns and becomes the man in the middle. After getting poked by Chavo, Masters shows a different side of The Masterpiece as he locks in The Masterlock followed by a Full Nelson Slam. He then checks on Eve Torres, who is smitten by the sight of The Masterpiece. But it doesn't take long forHornswoggle to get some redemption of his own as he delivers the DX Chop to a proned Chavo.
Winners: Eve and Hornswoggle
Following a rundown of this Sunday's Tables, Ladders, Chairs Pay Per View, Chris Jericho now heads to the ring for his handicap match.
2 on 1 Handicap Match
Chris Jericho vs. D-Generation X
Jericho starts the match with Shawn Michaels as the bell tolls. But it doesn't take long for The Game to come in and get some of Jericho as well. But as DX gets control, Big Show comes out to even the odds and make things interesting for this supposed Handicap Match. But The Game comes in and delivers a huge chair shot to The Show. But Show comes back and knockouts both members of DX with Ladders. Thanks to Big Show, Jericho is able to get the last laugh heading into TLC and the huge TLC match this Sunday!
Winner: DX via DQ...and Jerishow still SUCKS!!!
Don't forget that December 12th will be the annual Tribute To The Troops Show on NBC!
WWE Championship Showdown
Sheamus vs. WWE Champion John Cena in a Smack Talk Match
Cuban oversees the Face To Face as Sheamus lays own why he'll win this Sunday. He makes it clear that he will win his first World Championship in a matter of weeks of being in the WWE. He has never been beaten, and he will not be defeated this Sunday. John Cena has no comment to the Celtic's remarks. The Celtic Blowhard continues to tell Cena that he will lose the gold, be driven through a table and he will be in no condition to face him in a rematch after TLC. Cena again delivers no rebuttal to the remarks from Sheamus. The last question brings Cena to his feet as he has a question for Sheamus. He makes it clear to him that he has always been the target of up and comers. For seven years, he's been beaten, battered, injured and operated on.
He's been in arenas where thousands of people can't stand him, as well as stand behind him. He believes that he is on another level and has earned the right to say, "THE CHAMP IS HERE!!" He makes it clear that this Sunday, either back up what you say or become another footnote in the annals of WWE History. With that, Sheamus launches a table away from himself. He then shoves Cuban down, followed by a kick to the skull of Cena. Following the mayhem, Sheamus turns back over a table and sets it up in a corner. Following a second kick to Cena, Sheamus eyes the Mavericks owner...who shoves the Celtic Blowhard to the mat. After regaining his footing, Sheamus drives a knee into the gut of Cuban. He then picks up the owner and drives him through the table. But as Sheamus celebrates, members of the Dallas Mavericks jump over the barricade to confront the Celtic Warrior. But the Celtic Chicken decides to jump out of the ring and run with his tail between his legs. After regaining his composure, the WWE Champion removes the shirt and bolts towards the #1 Contender as RAW goes off the air.

After a wild weekend in college football, the first of several huge days started this evening as Tim Brown dropped the bombshell announcement of the Final Five for the Heisman Trophy. The Heisman will be awarded to college football's MVP this weekend in New York. Here now is the five finalist, and I must say, at least I got something right from college football's wildest weekend.
Colt McCoy, QB, Texas Longhorns ![]()
The leading actor in the movie "Hook 'Em Horns!" provided everyone with enough excitement to deliver a five-star performance and get an Sports Oscar nod for his role in the season known as Texas. The Horns' QB has his team poised to win their second BCS National Championship this decade, and if he wins the Heisman, he will be the one who has to break the infamous Heisman Curse. After a gritty performance against Nebraska, McCoy now heads to New York in the hopes to follow in Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford's footsteps to the promiseland known as Heisman Winnerland. But has Danny Boy done enough to secure his spot among the immortals?
2009 Stats: 330/468, 3512 yards, 27 TDs & 12 Ints/128 Carries for 348 yards & 3 TDs
Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford Cardinal
If you're looking for a true workhorse, look no further than Toby Gerhart. All season long, he has led the Cardinals to an impressive season that has led them to a postseason berth and almost won the Pac-10 Championship in the process. But if that wasn't enough to garner some votes for Gerhart, then maybe the fact that he has rushed for three (yes, three) 200-yard rushing games could help his cause. In all fairness, going against the likes of Mark Ingram, McCoy and Tim Tebow could make things interesting. Throw in Gerhart, and you got the makings of a pretty wild night in the Big Apple.
2009 Stats: 311 Carries for 1736 yards & 26 TDs
Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama Crimson Tide
Speaking of workhorses, the Tide have one of their own in the form of Mark Ingram. Despite being shut down on most fields, Ingram is the primary reason of why the Tide are undefeated, SEC Champions and heading to Pasadena for a chance at the BCS Championship. The Tide needed their workhorse to overcome his injury (hip pointer), and he overcame it at the best time possible to lead the Tide to a huge upset victory over the top-ranked Florida Gators in the SEC Championship. Now before they roll to Pasadena to face the Horns for the National Championship, he will head to New York for a chance to take his place among the likes of Bo Jackson and Eddie George.
2009 Stats: 249 Carries for 1542 yards & 15 TDs
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska Cornhuskers
It is said that defense wins championships. It is also said that the best defensive guy will step up when the time is right. For Nebraska, the time came during the second half of the season when Suh made things happen on the defensive side of the ball. Suh did enough to make things happen and lead the Huskers to the Big XII Championship Game, where they almost shocked the Longhorns. Now Suh has finally gotten the nod as he becomes the first Husker since Tommie Frazier to get a chance to win the Heisman Trophy.
2009 Stats: 82 Tackles (47 Solo), 12 Sacks (4.5 in Big XII Title Game) & 1 Interception
Tim Tebow, QB, Florida Gators
In all of college football, there has not been a more dangerous and more motivated player than Tim Tebow. The Florida quarterback led his Gators to 22 straight victories, dating back to October 3rd of last year. He even led the G-Men to the SEC and BCS National Championships in his Junior year. Despite suffering two huge setbacks this season (concussion vs. Kentucky & loss to Alabama in SEC Championship), Tebow has shown to be a true athlete. From showing his emotions on the sidelines to pump up the crowd in the Swamp and Orange Bowl to crying during the final moments of the SEC Championship Game last weekend, Tebow has revolutionized college football in a way that is slightly forgotten by his show of emotions on Saturday night.
2009 Stats: 182/279, 2413 yards, 18 TDs & 5 Ints/203 Carries for 859 yards & 13 TDs
This weekend, it's the 75th Annual Heisman Trophy Presentation, Saturday night on ESPN.
BCS Playoffs: #1 Alabama vs. #8 Ohio State

It's time to settle the debate right here and right now. With the help of not one, but two websites, all of College Football Nation will now have the chance to decide who goes on to the BCS Championship Game in Pasadena. This has never been done before, and over the next few weeks, we will have ourselves a little Eight-Team Playoff between the top eight teams. With that being said, the first game on the slate is top ranked Alabama facing eighth-ranked Ohio State in today's matchup. But before we take a look at the game, here's a look at the brackets.
BCS Playoffs Bracket
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #8 Ohio State Buckeyes
#2 Texas Longhorns vs. #7 Oregon Ducks
#3 Cincinnati Bearcats vs. #6 Boise State Broncos
#4 TCU Horned Frogs vs. #5 Florida Gators
Here's the rundown of the preview of the matchup between Alabama and Ohio State.
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (SEC Champions, 12-0)
The Alabama Crimson Tide grounded and pounded their way to their first SEC Championship in over a decade. They survived some pretty severe games this year, but they managed to unleash some inner-fury against the Florida Gators. Now they look to continue that trend as they match up against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Tide will need Heisman Candidate Mark Ingram to step up and show that same tenacity he showed against Florida in the SEC Championship. Alabama's defense will be a huge factor in this game. They managed to keep Tim Tebow grounded for the majority of the SEC Championship, and I see them grounding another mobile quarterback in this matchup.
#8 Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten Champions, 10-2)
The Buckeyes needed some severe lady luck to survive the Big Ten Conference. It doesn't help that you have the likes of Penn State and the always unpredictable Wisconsin. But it does help that you have the likes of Michigan and Iowa on the schedule as well. They had to beat the Hawkeyes to secure the Big Ten. But they still won the Big Ten for the fifth time and earned a spot in the BCS in the process. That being said, one has to wonder which Big Ten Champion will show up. The Big Ten Champion who defied all odds and won the conference? Or the Big Ten Champion who has a history of being severe choke artists in the postseason when it comes to the BCS?
Super Finish: A Farewell Tribute to Tim Tebow

Out of all the writers in the world who cover sports, no one has felt the impact of Tim Tebow's presence in Gainesville more than me. As my wife can vouch for, I was a wreck watching the final moments of last night's SEC Championship. In my head, I felt that Florida got a raw deal, but the man leading the charge was not able to defend his crown outright.
Still, the leader of the Gators will get his chance to ride off into the sunset on the best of moments as Florida faces Cincinnati in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. With that being said, it is time for me to give Superman his final salute as he prepares for his final game in a Gators uniform.
Remember this one folks. The Gators have won two of the last three National Championships. But it was in the first one, the world already knew about Chris Leak, the fearless quarterback who lead the Gators back to the promiseland that had eluded them for over ten years. But it was a young Tim Tebow that left everyone talking when the game was over. After Leak's departure a few months later, it officially became Tebow's team.
The following season, the Gators suffered a pair of setbacks that ended with them being left out of the SEC Championship Game and the BCS National Championship Game, won by LSU. But Tebow went on to make history by being the first QB since Danny Wuerffel to win the honor. Unfortunately, Tebow suffered the Heisman curse as the Gators lost a tough one against Michigan 41-35.
But Tebow returned tougher than ever the following season to lead the Gators to an almost perfect season. Following a one point loss to Ole Miss in September 2008, Tebow addressed the media by saying simply this:
![[promise.jpg]](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JAtlQGqPg_M/ScGwYHQ9OtI/AAAAAAAAAxY/oBGPfW99pYQ/s1600/promise.jpg)
"To the Fans and Everybody in Gator Nation, I'm sorry. I'm extremely sorry. We were hoping for an undefeated season, something Florida has never done here. I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this. You will never see any player in the country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season. You will never see anyone push the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season. You will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season. God Bless."
After that infamous speech, the Gators went on a tear that ended with a dismantling of Alabama for the SEC Championship and a victory over Big XII Powerhouse Oklahoma in the BCS National Championship Game. Following the victory, Tebow again addressed the crowd in Gainesville, simply saying, "Let's do this again next year...I'm coming back!!"
From there, the Gators went on another tear, finishing with their first undefeated regular season, but fell one game short of the ultimate goal of the perfect season. Regardless, during this magical season, Tebow broke the all-time rushing touchdown record set by Georgia's Herschel Walker, ironically enough, against Georgia. Tebow now prepares for the Sugar Bowl, where he will play his final collegiate game (with the exception of the Senior Bowl), against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Either way, Tim Tebow has left an impact, not just on the Florida Gators and not just on the college football world, but on the world itself...as well as myself.
We will never forget Superman, and all that he has done for the sport of college football. He is the one that made college football more than just a sport...he made it a tradition again. If EA Sports is listening, that is the man who should be on the next cover of Madden and/or NCAA College Football. Because if not for Tim Tebow, the game most likely would not be as popular.
Tim Tebow's Final Career Stats Heading Into Sugar Bowl
- 610/925 for 8457 yards, 84 TDs/15 Ints
- 668 Carries for 2833 yards & 56 TDs

The Stage is Set: BCS Bowl Announcements

After a weekend of upsets, the stage is officially set for the anarchy in the BCS. Only this time, the computers actually got it right. Every game looks to be one for the ages, but it's all about the big ones as the final four undefeated teams feel the sting of being left out of the Big Game in Pasadena. Here are the five games that make up the Bowl Championship Series.
FedEx Orange Bowl
#10 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. #9 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Hawkeyes are back in the BCS, and this time, they look to do what the Big Ten hasn't done so far: Leave an impact. Despite Ohio State's lack of success in the Series so far, the Hawkeyes eye a huge victory this season.
Standing in their way is the always dangerous Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Jackets are notorious for winning by killing the clock. But they survived a slugfest against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
#6 Boise State Broncos vs. #4 TCU Horned Frogs
The Broncos return to the game that they pulled off the biggest upset in college football history when they defeated Oklahoma on the Statue of Liberty Play in overtime. Now with another undefeated season under their belts, they look to resurrect that postseason magic they had three years ago.
On the other side of the field is the Mountain West Conference Champion TCU Horned Frogs. The last time the Frogs went undefeated, they won the National Championship. Unfortunately this time around, they had two more powerhouses in tougher conferences that earned the right to play in Pasadena. Now they look to silence the Broncos in possibly the biggest and best game of this year's BCS Games.
Allstate Sugar Bowl
#3 Cincinnati Bearcats vs. #5 Florida Gators
Once again, the Bearcats were on the verge of their first loss of the season. And once again, they found a way to win when it matters. With their coach possibly heading to Notre Dame at season's end, the Bearcats hope to have a better ending to their season than last year's game, when they lost to Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. But their opponent is not one to go quietly into the night.
With their National Championship dreams shattered by Mark Ingram, the defending National Champions Florida Gators will have to return to the Sugar Bowl for the eighth time. Led by Heisman Winner Tim Tebow, Florida looks to end Tebow's final game with the Gators on a high note. Yet, it was clear that the lost of Carlos Dunlap proved crucial in the SEC Championship, but the Gators remain hopeful that they will leave New Orleans with a Sugar Bowl victory in the SEC's own personal backyard.
96th Annual Rose Bowl Game presented by Citi
#8 Oregon Ducks vs. #7 Ohio State Buckeyes
The Oregon Ducks have had the most off the wall season of any team in the BCS. It started with a pair of losses to start the season with an upset by Boise State and the suspension of LeGarrette Blount. Now the Ducks are Pac-10 Champions and shoo-ins for comeback team of the year. Now they head to Pasadena to attend their first ever Rose Bowl Game in over a decade and a half.
The Buckeyes return to the BCS once again, but it has not been good for them. The Buckeyes have lost their last three appearances in the BCS (two National Championships and last year's Fiesta Bowl), but they look to right the ship in a bowl game for the first time since 1997. Despite winning their fifth Big Ten Championship, Ohio State has yet to win the one that matters. They look to fix that on New Year's Day when they lock up with the Oregon Ducks.
2010 Citi BCS National Championship Game
#2 Texas Longhorns vs. #1 Alabama Crimson Tide
The Longhorns have had quite a season. When it looked as if Mack Brown would come up short of his goal again, they found a way to make things happen. Now the Horns know that they have done enough to make it to the big show. After suriviving (yes, surviving) a brawl with Nebraska in Arlington, the Horns now head to the Rose Bowl for a chance to win the richest prize in college football. But it's familiar territory for the Longhorns: Vince Young single-handedly led the Horns to the National Championship in this very same stadium in 2006. But again, it won't be easy.
For first time since 1992, the Alabama Crimson Tide are undefeated and SEC Champions. That year, they went on to defeat the Miami Hurricanes to win the National Championship. That's also around the year that my brother and I were at each other's throats due in large part to the inaugural SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Florida. Now Alabama returns to the big show with a chance to give the SEC their fourth straight National Championship. Florida won the first to start the streak, followed by LSU and Florida again. Now it's Tide Time...or is it?
More to come on all these games in the upcoming weeks, including where you can see the infamous Bleacher Brothers live.
